How to Recover Data and Configurations from Backup Copies?

You can recover all your backed up data and configurations from the backups performed using Securden EPM. You must possess the encryption key of the backup copy to successfully recover all the data from the backup copy. To perform a disaster recovery, follow the steps below.

To Recover the backed-up data, follow the steps below

  • Install Securden EPM on a new machine without disturbing the existing installation.

Important

Ensure that the version of EPM you are installing now matches the version on which the backup was taken.

  • Open the EPM web interface after installation and navigate to Admin >> Change Encryption Key Location. Here, make note of the encryption key location.

  • Paste the encryption key of the backup copy in the encryption key location.

  • Run services.msc

  • Locate Securden WPM Service and Stop the service.

  • Open Command Prompt with administrator privileges.

  • In the cmd window, navigate to the /bin folder inside the Securden Installation folder and execute the following command.

    • RestoreDatabase.exe <File path of the Database Backup Copy>
  • Example:
    RestoreDatabase.exe C:\ProgramFiles\Securden\WPM\exports\PostgreSQL_Backups\Securden_postgresql_db_backup_2019-05-22-11-48-2.zip

  • Start Securden WPM service from services.msc. (You can safely ignore the other service named Securden Web Service, which is automatically taken care of).
